A
group of Grupo Inca women in a cooperative make the luscious baby alpaca
and baby/silk yarns. The finished products are made in certified fair
trade co-ops run by the Quechua peoples.
Lanart supports and implements
fair wages, animal friendly, socially and ecologically responsible.
They pay fair wages to the 24 women who work in each of the 8
cooperatives. This allows these women to keep their cultural art alive
and maintain their homes and lifestyles.
All products made from alpaca pelts are made from baby cria, who
die naturally. The environment is very harsh and many die of exposure.
Thus, no animals are killed to make Lanart products.
